Wegovy pill

The tablet activates the GLP-1 receptor, which may help you feel fuller for longer, reduce hunger, and consume fewer calories. This mechanism can support sustained weight loss. In clinical studies, weight loss was accompanied by improvements in waist circumference, cholesterol levels, and blood sugar levels. However, the tablet is not currently approved specifically for these purposes. It was used daily in conjunction with a calorie-restricted diet and increased physical activity for individuals with overweight, rather than as a standalone solution.

The side effects reported so far are consistent with what is already known about semaglutide, primarily involving gastrointestinal symptoms. In the phase 3b study, gastrointestinal side effects were significantly more common than with placebo, but serious side effects were not reported more frequently than in the placebo group. As research continues, the list of side effects may expand. Commonly reported side effects include nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, bloating, belching, heartburn, dizziness, headache, and fatigue.

The most significant findings come from the OASIS studies involving the Wegovy pill. 

In a phase 3 study using a 50 mg daily dose in adults without type 2 diabetes, an average weight loss of 15.1% was observed after 68 weeks, compared to 2.4% with placebo. Additionally, 85% of participants lost at least 5% of their body weight.

In a phase 3b study with a 25 mg daily dose in adults, an average weight loss of approximately 14% was observed after 64 weeks, compared to 2.4% with placebo. In this study, 76% of participants achieved at least 5% weight loss, compared to 31% with placebo.

In these studies, the tablet was used daily alongside lifestyle changes, such as a calorie-restricted diet and increased physical activity. The aim is not rapid weight loss but rather to support long-term weight loss and help maintain it more effectively.

While these results are encouraging, further research is required to evaluate long-term safety, determine the optimal dosage, and assess its use in a broader range of patient groups.
