Rizatriptan is a medication that belongs to a class called triptans, used to treat migraines. The active ingredient in Rizatriptan works by narrowing blood vessels in the brain to relieve pain and other symptoms of migraines. This medication is suitable for adults who experience migraines with or without aura.

Dosage and usage

For adults, the usual dosage of Rizatriptan is 5 mg or 10 mg taken orally with water as soon as your migraine symptoms appear. If the migraine comes back after an initial relief, a second dose can be taken after 2 hours, but do not exceed 30 mg in 24 hours. The effects of Rizatriptan usually last for about 2 hours. If your migraine does not improve or worsens after taking Rizatriptan, contact your healthcare provider.
