Finasteride (proscar)

You should take Finasteride exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider. The usual dose is 5 mg once a day, with or without food. It may take several months to see the full benefits of Finasteride. Follow your doctor's instructions carefully and do not exceed the recommended dosage. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule.

Each tablet of Finasteride contains 5 mg of finasteride as the active ingredient. The excipients in the tablets include lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, pregelatinized starch, sodium starch glycolate, docusate sodium, magnesium stearate, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, hydroxypropyl cellulose, titanium dioxide, talc, yellow ferric oxide, and red ferric oxide.

Common side effects of Finasteride may include decreased libido, ejaculation disorder, and erectile dysfunction. Serious side effects that require immediate medical attention include allergic reactions such as rash, itching, swelling of the lips or face, and testicular pain. In rare cases, Finasteride may cause male breast cancer. If you experience any unusual symptoms, contact your doctor promptly.

You should not use Finasteride if you are allergic to finasteride or any of the ingredients in the product. Women and children should not handle Finasteride tablets due to the risk of absorption through the skin. If you have a history of liver disease or prostate cancer, inform your doctor before taking Finasteride.
