About Maxalt

  • For migraine headache
  • Tablet or lyophilisate (orodispersible tablet) for oral use

Maxalt is a medication that contains the active ingredient rizatriptan. It belongs to a class of drugs called triptans, which work by narrowing blood vessels in the brain to relieve pain and other symptoms of migraine headaches. Maxalt is suitable for individuals experiencing migraine attacks and can be particularly helpful for those with moderate to severe migraines that are not relieved by other pain medications.

Dosage and usage

You should take Maxalt as soon as you feel a migraine headache coming on. The usual dose is one tablet (5 mg or 10 mg), swallowed whole with water. If your symptoms improve but return after 2 hours, you may take a second dose. However, do not exceed a total dose of 30 mg in a 24-hour period. If your migraine does not improve after taking Maxalt or worsens, contact your healthcare provider. It's important to note that Maxalt does not prevent future migraines or reduce their frequency.
