About Flixotide

  • Used to treat asthma and COPD
  • Preventer, use every day
  • Also suitable for use in children

Flixotide is a medication containing fluticasone propionate, which belongs to a group of medicines called corticosteroids. It works by reducing inflammation in the airways to help you breathe more easily. Flixotide is suitable for individuals with asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) to help manage their symptoms and prevent asthma attacks.

Dosage and usage

You should use Flixotide exactly as prescribed by your doctor. The typical dose for adults is usually two inhalations twice a day. Your doctor may adjust this based on your condition. It's important not to exceed the recommended dose. Flixotide may take a few days to start working fully. If you have any concerns about your treatment, speak to your healthcare provider.

What Flixotide contains

Each dose of Flixotide inhaler contains fluticasone propionate as the active ingredient. The inhaler also contains propellant HFA-134a. Each dose delivers either 50, 125, or 250 micrograms of fluticasone propionate.

Side effects

Common side effects of Flixotide may include a sore throat, hoarse voice, or fungal infections in the mouth or throat. Serious side effects that require immediate medical attention may include difficulty breathing, chest pain, or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as rash, itching, or swelling of the face, lips, or tongue.

Precautions

Do not use Flixotide if you are allergic to fluticasone propionate or any other ingredients in the inhaler. It is important to inform your doctor about any other medical conditions you have, especially if you have tuberculosis, a fungal, viral, or bacterial infection, or liver problems. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your healthcare provider before using Flixotide. Remember to always follow your doctor's guidance when using this medication.
