About Budesonide

  • Reduces airway inflammation in asthma and COPD
  • Daily use needed for long-term control
  • Not for sudden breathlessness attacks
  • Rinse mouth after use to prevent thrush
  • Consult your doctor about other medicines

This medicine is used to treat asthma and chronic lung conditions such as COPD. It belongs to a group called inhaled corticosteroids. These medicines help to reduce inflammation (swelling and irritation) in the airways. When inflammation decreases, your airways may become less sensitive, making it easier to breathe and reducing symptoms such as shortness of breath, wheezing and coughing.

It is intended for regular use to prevent symptoms over time and help keep your condition under control. It does not provide immediate relief during an acute attack of breathlessness. The effect and results can vary from person to person.

It is available as an inhalation powder or inhalation suspension. It can be used by adults and children from 6 years of age. The exact dose depends on age and the severity of the condition. Always check with your doctor to make sure this treatment is suitable for your situation.
