About Circadin (Melatonin)

Circadin is a medication that contains the active ingredient melatonin. Melatonin is a hormone naturally produced by your body that helps regulate your sleep-wake cycle. Circadin is used to treat primary insomnia in adults who are 55 years and older. If you have difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep, Circadin may help you improve the quality and duration of your sleep.

Dosage and usage

You should take one Circadin tablet (2 mg) daily, 1-2 hours before bedtime. It is important not to crush or chew the tablet but swallow it whole with some water. Avoid consuming alcohol close to taking Circadin. The effects of Circadin may take a few weeks to become noticeable, so it's essential to be patient and consistent with your dosage. If you miss a dose, do not take a double dose to make up for it.

What Circadin contains

Each Circadin tablet contains 2 mg of melatonin as the active ingredient. The tablet also includes lactose monohydrate, maize starch, and magnesium stearate as excipients.

Side effects

Common side effects of Circadin may include headache, dizziness, and fatigue. Contact your doctor if you experience any persistent or severe side effects. Serious side effects such as allergic reactions or swelling of the face, lips, or throat require immediate medical attention.

Precautions

Circadin is not suitable for individuals under 55 years of age. If you have liver or kidney problems, epilepsy, or are taking other medications, consult your doctor before using Circadin. Do not use Circadin if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you experience any unusual symptoms while taking Circadin, seek medical advice promptly.
